Corolla
WIL
The WIL (Whiplash Injury Lessening) concept used in the front seats, helps to reduce injury to the vertebra in the neck in a rear-end collision.
Rigid Structure
The extensive use of high tensile steel sheeting contributes to the Corolla’s lightweight without detracting from the passive safety integrity of the body. An energy-absorbing plate in the steering column helps absorb energy by deforming under the energy of a secondary impact.Energy-absorbing materials in the pillars and roof-side rails create a head impact protection structure that helps to reduce the risk of injury to occupants’ heads in a collision.
SRS Airbags

The SRS airbags are activated by a strong frontal impact in a collision. Together with the restraining effect of the seatbelts, they help to reduce serious injury to driver’s and front passenger’s heads and upper torsos. On the front seatbelts, when sensors detect a strong impact in a frontal collision, pre-tensioners rewind the seatbelts instantly to help assist occupant restraint. In addition, force limiters help to relieve the force on the upper torso by releasing part of the force when loads surpass a specified level.

Lively Performance
The Corolla’s exciting driving is generated by a range of advanced engines with VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing - intelligent). In addition to delivering plenty of power, their compact size, light weight and technologies such as slant squish combustion chambers contribute to superb fuel efficiency and reduced emissions. The excellent stability and control are the product of MacPherson strut suspension on the front, and an eta beam suspension, featuring a toe control bushing-type torsion beam, on the rear.
